Baby Girl Nursery- Hand Painted Floral Wall Mural

The first thing I knew I wanted in Little Miss Ansley's nursery was A) PINK and B) a floral print. So first I thought about bedding and curtains but I really don't like matchy matchy nursery themes. And I knew I wanted to either go big or go home so it needed to make a statement. So then I thought of wall paper and fabric walls. I searched for both but in the end I decided I didn't want to spend a small fortunate and I also wanted it to be completely original and exactly what I was picturing in my head.

I decided to hand paint the whole thing because when you want something done a certain way, Do.It.Yourself.

As I started playing around with different techniques and flower types here and there of the course of a few days, the Hubs walked in and said it reminded him of a Japanese Steakhouse.......so I cried. But I was determined to make this vision come alive and I knew it was hard for him to see my vision in the early stages.

Here are all of the sources, hope you LOVE it as much as I do!!!

Wall Color: Behr's Wheat Bread
Furniture Color: Valspar's Martha Cooper Rose
Lighting: Lowes (currently in stock)
Bedding: I ordered the bumper and skirt separately. All of the beautiful ones I saw were wayyy out of our budget at $300-$800 a set. So I found a simple ruffle bumper from an ebay seller (NIP but her only one) and then added the faux bows myself.
Curtains: Ordered from this random company I found LightintheBox
Stuffed Animals: Jelly Cat (I am an obsessed JC freak, if you haven't heard of them, you should!)
Pink Velvet Pillow Covers: H&M.....I added the pompom trim and an iron on monogram patch from Etsy sellers.
Cream Pillow Cover: Hobby Lobby
Light Pink Mum Flowers: Hobby Lobby
Drawer Hardware: Hobby Lobby

**Note all of my lettering is hand done, it is not any certain font. It's just a modern faux calligraphy. I just get some paint or chalk pens and go with it!!

**Safety Note: All of this will be removed when she sleeps. The bumper will be removed for a couple months in between bassinet to crawling stage.

ENJOY!!

You are truly an amazing designer. I consider myself fairly good at that kind of thing but don't think I could get it all put together in such a cohesive room... or house.

  4. I've been thinking about hand painting some fish in my boys' room. My question is, should I use latex wall paint? Because there will be a lot of colors if I paint them realistically. I've never handpainted a wall before but I'd like to do it a certain way that cannot be found commercially.
